Darrell Parrish Bakeman is a native Chicagoan, that currently resides in Tucson, AZ. Her decade of business, development and socio-economic ventures range from running her own companies, political and organizational fund-raising, hosting radio and cable talk-shows, to serving as president of two non-profit organizations.
Ms. Bakeman earned a masters degree in Education Administration from the University of Oregon and a bachelor degree in Music Education with an emphasis on voice from Huston Tilotson College, in Austin, Texas. She has used her “voice” powerfully in Chicago. She helped raise $4 million for the first African American mayor of Chicago and worked actively for the committee to re-elect him. Her marketing and fund-raising prowess have benefited many organizations and individuals. Ms. Bakeman has served on the board of several major organizations in Chicago and boasts a long history of active civic involvement.
Married to the late Dr. C. Vincent Bakeman, founding president and CEO of Human Resources Development Institute (HRDI) a 45-year-old human service organization in Chicago, Ms. Bakeman is currently committed to sharing her gifts and talents as a member of the Bridge Prison Ministry board.
